7. Patrick Bateman - American Psycho
Our first entry takes us not to the beginning of Bales acting career, but rather the closest version of a natural Bale. Theres nothing too shocking or out of the ordinary about Bales physical appearance in American Pyscho, other than his immaculate personal hygiene. It might not seem the most impressive physical change, since this is probably how most cinema-goers imagine Bale, but it took some serious work to get as chiseled as Bale was for his take on the iconic cult character. In comparison to the other changes he went through for roles, this is less profound, until you look back into his roles before this career maker. Prior to showing off his diamond-cut abs, Bale had played more minor roles in Little Women, and Velvet Goldmine - both of which required a less imposing physical profile - as well as in awful dance movie Newsies (for which he appeared lithe and springy.) So even though Bale seemed to be playing himself in American Psycho, it took significant work to get to this stage. But from this point on, the bodily changes got even more serious - in all honesty, he absolutely tarnishes his body from here on out.
