7 Movies Where The Beatles Music Was The Major Selling Point

Danny Boyle’s high concept comedy is entirely predicated on the existence, or not, of The Beatles.
Wannabe musician Jack Malick (Himesh Patel) wakes after an accident to discover that The Beatles have been wiped from existence and only he can remember their music. He’s free to start claiming their songs as his own and shoots to fame after Ed Sheeren picks him as tour support.
The gently amusing script by Richard Curtis is full of charm and clever touches. It is however slightly light on big laughs compared to other Curtis penned hits such as Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Compensation comes in the form of a cache of timeless hits. Watching Jack trying to recreate Beatle songs from memory is reminiscent of watching Queen’s studio tinkering in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Yesterday provides a springboard for plenty of post-cinema conversations. Would those songs really make such an impact today?
