While this film deserves some credit for trying to address a largely forgotten battle, this is where the praise stops for this convoluted mess. With far too much exposition, all round dreadful acting and poor CGI, a half decent premise is left to flounder here in this significant box office bomb.

The film spends too long exploring archeologists bumbling around old ruins while evil corporations plot how they can profit from time travel technology. Paul Walker plays Chris Johnston, who leads a team to 1357 where his father finds himself trapped within the battles of the 100 years war between England and France.

Walker struggles to bring any gravitas to the role, but he is at least not as miscast as Billy Connolly, who tries in vain to play it straight as his Professor father. There are a number of 'back to the future' alterations to past events that we are told are significant, but the stakes never feel all that high. Worse, we just don't care what happens to the parade of boring characters we are meant to relate to.

The final battle scene is presumably where most of the budget was spent, but the action scenes all occur in near darkness and looks quite tacky because of this. Historical events are returned to its normal state and 'mysteries' are solved, but we just don't care.
