7 Reasons Deadpool Has The Edge Over X-Men: Apocalypse

7. The Team

Deadpool is in very good hands. Hands so soft and supple that they feel like the pillows on a bed of clouds. Hands so gentle that they could caress a bubble and not cause it to pop. Hands so€ Alright, you get it. Let€™s start with the director of Deadpool, Tim Miller. There€™s a reason why you aren€™t familiar with any of his previous directorial projects because Deadpool is the first movie that Miller will direct. Yes, I understand why alarm bells have probably just begun pounding on the walls of your cranium, but hear me out. There€™s a little ditty of a movie called Scott Pilgrim vs The World that will ease your fears. Scott Pilgrim was a feast for the eyes that was stuffed full of the delicious mix of tiny details, cartoon-like, video game influenced violence and a certain degree of realism. Yes, it was well scripted, acted and directed but it was truly the special effects of the film that enchanted the viewer. Tim Miller was the creative supervisor of Scott Pilgrim and it is he that we have to thank for making that movie what it was. As highlighted in the trailer, Miller is bringing his vision, creativity and humor in spades and that should get you stupidly excited. Then we have Ryan Reynolds, who will be playing the role of Wade Wilson (Deadpool) a role he has been clamoring for since 2004. An avid fan of the Merc with a Mouth, Reynolds is the metaphorical glue that stuck all the pieces together. He has the comedic timing and the physical chops to pull off the role and, most importantly, the man who most needs this. Just like licking a battery, Reynold€™s latest slew of films have left a bad taste in the mouths of the audience. What better way for Reynolds to re-establish himself than in a lead role that he truly cherishes; not just for a pay check but because he loves the character? Lastly, we have the screen writing duo of Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese who both have talent and comedic chops. They have worked together on numerous projects, most notably the hilarious, Twinkie-loving Zombieland and also created and executive-produced a comedy reality show called Stuck on ODB, starring the late, great Ol€™ Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang Clan. Which begs the question of €˜Why the hell have I not see that yet?!€™
