7 Reasons Suicide Squad Has The Edge On Batman V Superman
6. The Joker
Let's face it: Batman V Superman has Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor (a controversial decision in its own right), and Suicide Squad has... well, Jared Leto as the Joker. From what has been glimpsed of the character so far, Leto promises to deliver an insane and complex version of the Clown Prince - one that we've never really seen. When it comes to the villain aspect inherent to each film, there's no real competition here, which means that Suicide Squad has an added draw factor bound to bring it hundreds of millions of dollars in added receipts at the box office ('cause people love the Joker). Leto is one of the most promising actors of his generation - strange and enigmatic and weird in real life, something that Eisenberg plainly isn't. That's not to discredit Eisenberg as an incapable actor or Lex Luthor as a poor villain, even; it's just that he doesn't have the built-in excitement factor of an unpredictable and even elusive actor like Leto. Approximately half the people who venture out to see Suicide Squad will do so because they want to see Leto's take on the iconic character, after all. Whether they're rooting for him or hoping that he fails when compared to Heath Ledger doesn't really matter: just having the Joker in the movie gives it an indisputable edge over Dawn Of Justice.
