After years of development, the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is finally just around the corner and we really couldn't be more excited. The Phase 1 opening of the new land at Disneyland Park, California takes place on 31st May with Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort Florida opening its gates to the public for the first time on 29th August.

Here's five things that will make you want to travel out to a Disney Park and become a Jedi or Sith Lord this summer...

7. It's A New World, With Familiar Faces

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set on Batuu, a planet that has yet to be introduced in the Star Wars movies.

We're told Batuu can be found right at the Outer Rim of the galaxy and is not a place for the faint hearted. It's right on the "frontier of Wild Space". The planet was once a popular trade route but thanks to the increase in Hyperspace travel, it has now become almost forgotten. It's located right on the edge of unchartered Space, this makes it the perfect place to escape the watching eye of the First Order.

Guests will enter the port of Black Spire Outpost, the home of smugglers and traders. It's the ideal location to begin an adventure across the galaxy.

Even though the planet is somewhere we've never experienced before, that doesn't mean that there aren't going to be some familiar faces. Expect to see Rey, Chewie, Finn, Poe and BB-8 at some point on your travels.
