7 Reasons Why Disney Owning All Marvel Film Franchises Is A Bad Idea

2. Wolverine And Spider-Man In The Avengers

One of the biggest missteps in Marvel Comics in the past decade has been the shoe-horning of Wolverine and Spider-Man into the Avengers comics. Not only has this increased the already-extreme over-exposure of these two characters, but it has taken the spotlight away from many other Avengers who have far more history with the team. It€™s also robbed both Wolverine and Spidey of some of what made them great characters in the first place. Wolverine has always been a loner by nature, and discovering a family with the X-Men has proven to be a huge thing for him. Even still, he remains somewhat distant from his teammates, often running off on his own so he doesn€™t involve them in the problems associated with his past. Putting Wolverine into every single team in the Marvel Universe has completely sapped him of that lone gunslinger aspect that made him so great in the first place. With Spider-Man, as previously mentioned, he€™s the quintessential everyman. He struggles with his social life, he has trouble paying his rent and his aunt€™s medical bills, and he has to find a way to survive when the whole world is against him. But when he has Tony Stark on speed-dial, a state-of-the-art headquarters he€™s free to live in, and an Avengers salary to support him, that everyman aspect is completely lost. If Disney regained these properties, the next Avengers movie would feature Wolverine and Spider-Man front-and-center, at the detriment to characters like Hawkeye, Black Widow, and upcoming additions Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and the Vision.
