4. Harry And Marv Threaten Kevin - Home Alone

A Christmas mainstay it might be but Home Alone is pretty far from the usual festive spirit. A live-action cartoon, it features Macaulay Culkin's Kevin (who will surely grow up to be a psychopath) ingeniously attempting to murder a duo of thieves. It's a shocking moment then when the film suddenly switches its slapstick for the grim reality of being an eight-year-old left alone with two dangerous criminals. Finally, Harry and Marv get their hands on Kevin, and rather than being the butts of the joke they become a real threat as they prepare to do to him everything he did to them. Joe Pesci, especially, gives a flash of his more serious Oscar-winning role in Goodfellas as he goes to bite Kevin's finger off. You might not want to be left home alone after watching this scene.
