7 Surprisingly Emotional Movies That Can Make A Man Cry

5. Source Code: Phone Call to Dad

I loved Source Code... except for the ending, which was pants. Nevertheless, I thought 98% of the movie was brilliant and part of that brilliance was the slow dawning realisation of what a dire situation Colter Stevens was in. Not just in the train, but also in that fridge where he was being stored next to last night€™s pizza and some stale milk. I found myself increasingly drawn to his virtual and real life predicament as the movie progressed and the excellently cold-hearted and cynical Dr Rutledge just made me ever more desperate that he retain his humanity. This he did when he finally was able to call his dad on the mobile in what we thought then was his last few minutes of virtual and real life. Man, it had me blinking back the tears. You may mock, but to be honest, when was the last time we all called our dad on the phone really wanting to get off our chest a heartfelt message? No, I mean to say €˜I love you€™, not to tell him that your power tool broke down and you need to borrow his so you can put up the garden shed! It only made what happened at the end feel so cheap, as it would appear that Colter has a potentially unlimited number of opportunities to hear his dad's voice, albeit having assumed the identity of any number of poor souls who met a grizzly end. I mean, given this outcome, Colter actually has the opportunity to stalk his grieving dad in multiple forms for all eternity.
