7 Times Fan Reaction Actually Changed Movies

6. Spider-Man 3 - Venom Is Included Instead Of Vulture

The Initial Idea: Sandman was going to team up with his former cellmate, Vulture, and the flying criminal was going to act as the secondary villain of Spider-Man 3.

The Fan Reaction: Fans were largely okay with this idea. Both villains were classic Spider-Man foes and Sam Raimi had proven himself fairly adept at handling villains so far. The rumours of Ben Kingsley as a character with a vastly different power set to Sandman and a grudge against Spider-Man seemed promising.

And yet somehow, Avi Arad didn’t get that message.

The executive producer, apparently not having seen the previous two movies, decided to butt in and speak for the fans. He said that fans loved Venom and that he should be included instead of Vulture. The problem was that this was a misguided perception of what the fans wanted.

In this case, merely the thought of what fans might want was enough to change the course of an entire movie. It’s a shame that it had to be a change for the worse.
