7 Unbelievably Good Opening Credits In Movies

3. Monty Python And The Holy Grail

Monty Python You know what you are in for with Monty Python and this certainly lived up to that. What starts off as a rather bland and considering the cast unsuitably serious credit sequence, soon descends into that well known Python slice of crazy. If you aren€™t expecting it then this fake out can be quite disconcerting; the black and white layout and the music that sounds like it belongs in an old fashioned horror movie might well make you wonder if you put the right film on. However the eagle eyed will probably notice the odd translations at the bottom of the screen, and then the crazy begins and the realisation sets in, we are being trolled. The translations getting wackier, somehow managing to mention interesting furry animals and holidaying in Sweden, the music gets more frantic and for people that still aren€™t getting the joke the font of the credits is constantly changing-just when you think you have caught on- the joke is reset and we start again. An equally unsuitable songs plays and having been told that the makers of the subtitles had been fired, the subtitles are gone but now the credits themselves are incorrect and they have to be started again. This time it is a complete 180, the music is manic and the credits are funny and colourful. This was a genius idea; it plays into what is a recurring feature in the film industry and one of the key motivations for this article, a large amount of credit sequences are boring and as such people often pay them little attention. If you make the mistake of deeming the credits of The Holy Grail to be conventional and ignore them, then you will miss the majority of the joke and will be falling into the exact stereotype that it is parodying.
