5. The Diner Murder

"Holy sh*t".

That was this reviewer's first thought when Tom Cooper stuck a knife through the back of Andy the lawyer's head after strangling him with his own tie. Russell Crowe was at his malevolent best here, and the way he purposely toyed with Rachel and her pal Andy whilst glorifying the physical and mental pain he was inflicting was special.

One slight downside to the diner scene was that nobody seemed to interject. Sure, they'd be horrified to see some heavy set bloke strangling another, but you'd think someone would try to help. Also, it's slightly unrealistic that nobody had a gun in the place, or that cops didn't hit the scene soon thereafter.

If you're able to ignore that, then this scene is one hell of a watch. Rachel's helplessness as one of her friends (and possible love interests) literally has life squeezed from his lungs will have you sweating, and Jimmi Simpson believably starts to doubt Cooper's intentions.
