Nominated for six Academy Awards, taking home an impressive wedge of cash, and lauded by fans and critics alike, Some Like It Hot is revered as one of the greatest movies in the history of cinema.

While the film itself is excellent, the production of the picture was not without its issues - notably, Marilyn Monroe.

From various different accounts, Monroe was often a nightmare to work with, and that was well and truly the case on Some Like It Hot. Constantly late to set, often with an attitude to her, and rarely having learnt any of the required dialogue, the cast and crew of Some Like It Hot began to grow increasingly tired of Monroe's antics.

The temptation to boot Monroe off the picture was never followed through on because, well, because she was Marilyn Monroe, the biggest entertainment star in the world. Still, there were digs and complaints directed towards Monroe as the shoot went on.

To get some semblance of revenge on Monroe, the promotional tour for the film saw Tony Curtis target his problematic co-star. When asked what it was like to kiss Marilyn Monroe, Curtis threw plenty of shade Monroe's way by comparing it to kissing a frog and to kissing Adolf Hitler.

Coincidentally, Monroe and Curtis had dated 20 years prior, and rumours suggest that - even though both were married at the time - they rekindled this romance during the production of Some Like It Hot.

As for the Hitler comment, Monroe was said to be utterly devastated by this remark.
