Last year may have seen a heart-warming reunion for the cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, yet it was a reunion that had plenty of people wondering whether or not Janet Hubert would make an appearance.

For those unaware, Janet Hubert is the actress who played Vivian Banks - as in, Will's aunt - in the first three seasons of Fresh Prince. After Season Three, however, Hubert was replaced in the role by Daphne Maxwell Reid.

The reason for this change of actress was down to how hard Janet Hubert was to work with. With the cast and the crew having tired of her behaviour and attitude, Will Smith got some semblance of revenge on his co-star by having her removed from the show.

Clearly Will had a whole lot of influence and pull on Fresh Prince, and it was his unhappiness with Hubert that led to her being offered a low-ball deal to return for Season Four - with the minds behind the show knowing full well that the actress would turn said deal down.

That indeed happened, and Daphne Maxwell Reid was brought in to take over the Aunt Viv gig. In countless interviews in the years since, the cast have regularly discussed how more harmonious the set became after this change-up.

As for 2020's Fresh Prince reunion, Janet Hubert was a surprise part of the get-together - and her and Will Smith are said to have now reconciled their differences.
