2. Star Wars (comic book series)
When you watch The Empire Strikes Back, do you ever wonder how the Rebels got from Yavin IV to Hoth? How Luke rose to his position of authority? What happened on Ord Mantell? Of course you have, and this comic book series will (likely) answer these questions. This is another Dark Horse series set in the Star Wars universe. But this one occurs in between Episodes IV and V, telling the tale of the Rebels flight and retrenchment following the battle at Yavin IV. Its been pretty good so farthe second issue came out the other week. And judging from the fact that the first issue is about to go into its third printing (my comic book store sold out immediately) its pretty popular. The series will feel comfortable, almost welcoming, after the unfamiliar terrain of Dawn of the Jedi. We see Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca, of course, as well as Mon Mothma and Wedge Antilles. But it also fills in crucial details between Episode IV and V; while this has been covered in other EU entries, its appearance in comic format is nice. And it can shed light on Lukes progression from whiny kid to Jedi hero, how Leia dealt with the loss of her homeworld, and the internal structure of the Rebel Alliance. If you want to get in on a part of the EU at the ground floor, Id start reading this series. You have until March 13th to get caught up
