3. Why Is Earth Still So Derelict And Miserable Five Years After The Snap? Wouldn't Things Have Gone Back To Normal?

Think about it. Chances are at least some of every major government and monarchy around the world has disappeared. Every single person is almost guaranteed to have lost someone personally important to their life. There simply aren't enough people left with the specific skills required to have everything back up and running the way it should be.

It's easy to assume that a new team would have been drafted to make sure that empty stadium we see right at the beginning of the film isn't abandoned, but what if every prominent figure in the managing and organising of sports leagues got caught up in the snap?

The fifty percent of people wiped out on Earth is random. It's not fifty percent of every country. It's fifty percent of 8 billion people in general. 328 million of America's 330-ish million people could have been snapped away. Every politically inclined person could be gone. We just don't know.
