8 ‘80s Movies That Would Secretly Make Great TV Shows

5. Blade Runner

Back to the Future
Warner Bros.

Blade Runner would feel right at home in the current era of TV. With so many moody sci-fi shows and even moodier detective series' cropping up, Blade Runner, if anything, might struggle to stand out.

However, with TV becoming more and more visually in-line with cinematic experiences, Blade Runner's dark but operatic vision of the future could be realised and fully exploited to startling effect on the small screen. Whether or not anything would match the epic visual feast that was Blade Runner 2049 is another argument.

A major issue with adapting Blade Runner into a TV show, however, would be that some of the more ambiguous mythology associated with the film might be lost if stretched across ten plus hours. Whilst a one-off mini-series could be perfect, 5 seasons or so would somewhat tarnish its unique mystery and allusiveness that keeps fans debating the original film to this day.
