8 Actors Who Were Paid Huge Salaries For Very Little Work
Michael Biehn was more than willing to return as Corporal Hicks for the third installment of the Alien franchise, should there be a role for his character in the script. As we all know, there wasn't. Despite having nothing to do with the movie at all, the actor was still able to pick up a paycheck almost equal to what he had earned for the entire ten-month shoot of James Cameron's Aliens in 1986.
In early drafts of the script Hicks was actually posited as the main character, but the story went through so many changes and revisions that Biehn wasn't needed for the movie at all by the time production began. However, a prosthetic bearing his likeness was being created for the movie, to not-so-subtly write his character out of the series continuity. When he was made aware of this, Biehn threatened to sue the production for using his likeness without permission.
He was offered money by the studio to have the Hicks dummy appear onscreen to confirm his death, but Biehn refused. However, he did allow the production to very briefly use a low-resolution photograph of his image in return for financial compensation. Though the amount has never been confirmed, it is thought to be six figures at the very least, which is a massive amount of money to be paid for a movie you have absolutely nothing to do with!
