8 Actors Who Were Paid Huge Salaries For Very Little Work
Kathryn Bigelow's final movie before The Hurt Locker is one of the most expensive independent movies ever made; numerous studios pooled together to fund the $100m movie, although I'm sure in hindsight they'd wished they hadn't.
The Widowmaker only grossed $65.7m worldwide, but at least star Harrison Ford was handsomely rewarded for his efforts. For a so-called 'thriller' it can be incredibly dull at times, but Ford is suitably intense and commanding as Captain Alexei Vostrikov. No wonder, when you consider the actor was handed a $25 million paycheck for the project.
It was the single biggest payday of Ford's illustrious career, and remained so up until Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Despite the massive amount of money involved, Ford only spent 20 days working on the project. That equates to $1.25 million per day, and is in fact the highest per-day ratio in movie history.
If you think that's an extortionate amount of money, it could have been worse; had K-19 been a success, the actor was also entitled to 20% of the movie's profits. I'm sure he was okay with the $25m though.
