8 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (March 29)

1. Is Disney Looking To Reboot Indiana Jones?

bradleycooper Okay, ready to really freak out? As you know, Disney bought Lucasfilm last year for the small price of $4 billion, not only giving them the rights to Star Wars, but to Indiana Jones as well. There's been talk of a fifth installment for years now, but as with most Indy news, it's lead nowhere. This week, however, we got word that Disney may finally be moving forward with a fifth film, and wants to get it made with or without Harrison Ford. That's right, Disney may reboot Indiana Jones, and reportedly have Bradley Cooper at the top of their list to replace Ford in the role. Latino Review posted the news, and though I recommend taking it with enough grains of salt to fill the Temple of Doom, it does present an interesting idea for the series. LR claims that Disney may want to give Indy the James Bond treatment, by rebooting the franchise without starting over completely. By simply recasting the role, they will be able to continue with standalone adventures, much like the 007 franchise has been doing for 50 years now. Personally, I think this is the best Indy news we've heard in a while. Disney didn't just buy Indiana Jones to let the franchise live and die with Harrison Ford, and they will, undoubtedly, reboot it someday. He's just getting too old to play Indy. At 71 years old, I suspect his time as the whip wielding, Nazi-punching archaeologist will soon be behind him. As for Cooper in the role, there have certainly been worse suggestions (ahem... Shia LaBeouf?) Some have claimed that this news is not news at all, and that nothing is really happening at the moment. Regardless, it will happen someday, and it's certainly got us thinking about what may happen to Indy in the future. That's it for this week's news brief! It was a bit of a slow week, but overall we got some stories that definitely have us buzzing and speculating. What do you think about an Indiana Jones reboot? What about the idea of CGI and body doubles to replace Paul Walker, or the idea of a Prometheus sequel? Were you impressed (or disappointed) by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men Days Of Future Past trailers? Let us know in the comments below! And as always, be sure to follow me on Twitter for more stories as they break throughout the week!
