8 Burning Questions We Have After Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The latest Jurassic World movie sure left a lot of unanswered questions.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the fifth movie in the now 25-year-old Jurassic Park series, is out this Thursday in the US - and the uniqueness of the concept is now wearing a bit thin. Annoying characters, the cheapness of the movie’s second half, and the need to repeat moments from previous movies all drag Fallen Kingdom.

What's arguably most surprising about Fallen Kingdom though is that it's the first movie in the franchise to directly set up a sequel. Jurassic World 3 is already being made by Colin Trevorrow, who also directed Jurassic World, and Fallen Kingdom director J.A. Bayona seems to have stuffed as many loose ends in as he can for Trevorrow to, presumably, answer later.

Which means we're left with a lot of questions regarding the bizarre new twists, the suspicious new characters, and the fate of the franchise’s stars - meaning the dinosaurs, not the Pretty Hollywood People. There's also the question what happened regarding some key parts of the series, including the truth behind one particular tantalizing tease for long-term Jurassic Park fans.

No, one of them isn’t why Jeff Goldblum only got an extended cameo. That will have to remain a mystery.

8. How Many Dinosaurs Are Left In The World?

All of the events in Fallen Kingdom seem in service to one goal: putting dinosaurs back on the road to extinction. The Indominus Rex in Jurassic World did a pretty good job of culling the herds of creatures packed into the Park, and arguably the most popular dinos in the franchise - the Velociraptors - have been reduced to just a single one, Blue.

Now Fallen Kingdom has not only closed Jurassic World and outright blown up Isla Nublar, it seems to have reduced most of the various dinosaur species to single numbers. However, presumably with one eye on leaving things open for the sequel, J.A. Bayona refuses to specify exactly how many dinosaurs still exist on the planet. Maisie only released a handful at the end, including the T-Rex, but how many were pulled off Isla Nublar before that poor Brachiosaurus sunk into lava while giving audiences the thumbs-up sign?

Don't forget the auction. We caught a glimpse of the animals being transported even while it was going on. How many dinosaurs got shipped off to rich bidders in the movie’s second half? And how many of those bidders will come to regret their purchases in Jurassic World 3? And speaking of the bidders...
