8. The Fake Star
Those cynical suit wearing bastards in Hollywood love to wring every possible buck out of the films they approve. So sometimes theyll look to imply that a certain actor or actress is more heavily involved in a movie than they actually are, by exaggerating their presence in the promo material. Take a look at this:
Its heavily implied here that Sharon Stone is a major player; that in some way the film is about her character and her relationship with the two children. Either that or that her giant, semi-transparent head will somehow feature heavily, perhaps as part of a terrifying recurring nightmare sequence. Unfortunately, neither is true. Sharon Stone is barely in the film for five minutes. However, they adorned the posters and the DVD covers with her name and likeness, in an attempt to appeal directly to her fan base, which was undoubtedly the largest amongst the cast. This is a regular occurrence, particularly in the cheaper movies whose main cast are often largely unknown and its probably a necessary evil but still, I cant help but feel for the leagues of Sharon Stone fans who were let down.
