8 Early Star Wars Character Designs You Won’t Believe
4. Young Han Solo
A standalone Han Solo is being smuggled to the big screen by Ron Howard, but Star Wars fans almost got their first look at a younger version of the lovable scoundrel many years back.
A 10-year-old version of the show-stealing rogue was all set to star in the least offensive of the prequel instalements, Star Wars: Episode III, but George Lucas later nixed the idea from his screenplay.
A young version of Solo was due to appear in the scenes set on the Wookie planet of Kashyyyk, being raised by Chewie.
There was even a scripted sequence where the boy discovers a transmitter device which helps the good guys locate the villainous General Grievous, but it sounds like Lucas was grasping at straws in a desperate attempt to find a use for Han Jr there.
Concept art from the Iain McCaig vault revealed how the 10-year-old Han would have looked, and it may even offer a hint at how the character will appear in the upcoming spinoff. Hold that thought.
