8 Ensemble Casting Choices For Next James Bond Movie
1. Richard Madden As James Bond
Ultimately, this casting finishes with the man in the tux himself. Playing James Bond would be popular Scottish actor Richard Madden. The former King in the North (the first one, not the one that didn’t want it) has spent the years since his shocking exit from the fantasy epic cementing himself as one of Britain’s finest young actors.
Whilst he was more than competent in his first major movie role in Cinderella, Madden shone in BBC drama Bodyguard, bringing brute force, emotional depth and a handsome face to the role of former war veteran and titular bodyguard David Budd.
It was this intense, high-octane, high-drama role that initially saw moviegoers’ eyes turn towards the Scot and consider him for the Bond role. Since then, he has further proved his ability to handle the big screen with well-acted supporting roles in Rocketman and 1917.
Madden could easily bring the action that is required in the Bond role, but his ability to generate sympathy and genuine fear from audiences would allow him to portray a younger, more vulnerable Bond we are yet to see in the EON franchise. Whilst Craig was fantastic as the relentless agent, he was criticized for his lack of empathy and Terminator-like personality. With Madden on board, Bond would be able to make audiences feel and keep them on the edge of their seats.
