8 Even More Star Wars Questions That Always Confused You
4. Why Did Qui-Gon Not Survive His Wounds? - Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
With Disney+'s latest live-action Star Wars series Ahsoka unleashing yet another sudden stab to the stomach moment that doesn't result in a major character being killed, fans will no doubt be quick to once again point at the sign that reads "why didn't Qui-Gon Jinn survive his Phantom Menace wounds?!"
Well, there's actually a number of reasons.
Unlike the sliced-in-half Maul, for example, this Jedi Master didn't choose to remain amongst the living by drawing on the strength of hatred and anger. He instead found peace in becoming one with the Force after being skewered by the Dathomirian.
Another reason behind Qui-Gon not surviving his wounds like Sabine Wren and Reva Sevander, though, comes down to the fact that this powerful Jedi was actually stabbed in a far more lethal way.
Whereas Wren and Reva were stuck in areas of the torso that weren't fatal, Jinn was pierced right in his centre, with a physician on Reddit noting how Obi-Wan Kenobi's master was cut straight through his spine and aorta by Maul on Naboo.
And no amount of bacta infusions would be able to repair that sort of horrendous damage.
