What do Darth Vader, Maul, and Darth Sidious all have in common? They, like so many Sith, have each showcased some particularly unsettling yellow eyes at various points in the Star Wars timeline.

However, one Sith Lord who didn't show off this specific trait during the prequel trilogy anywhere near as often as those powerful dark side users was none other than the mighty Count Dooku.

But why did Darth Tyranus' eyes only very rarely burn yellow - as seen on the odd occasion in the Clone Wars animated series - during his time as a dark side of the Force practitioner?

Well, it's actually noted in Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopaedia (via CBR) that eyes are "windows to the soul" in this galaxy, and that when "rage and anger seethe inside a dark side user, their eyes may burn yellow with a fiery-red rim."

In other words, when a Sith is pissed, you can literally see it in their eyes.

And while the powerful Emperor Palpatine was seemingly able to conceal his distinct yellow eyeballs when manipulating the galaxy as Chancellor, it's more likely that Dooku didn't boast those same coloured eyes as often due to the fact his motivations weren't as rooted in anger and hatred as the rest of the aforementioned Sith.

Instead, he simply felt the Jedi had lost sight of what was important, and was largely attempting to stamp out the corruption in the Senate rather than conquer the galaxy.

Before eventually being cut down in front of his master, Dooku was seemingly not driven by anger and pain as much as some of Sidious' other apprentices when shooting lightning from his hands and clashing with his former Jedi brothers, hence why his eyes rarely went full freaky Sith.
