4. Salt (2010)

Angelina Jolie's latest stint as an action hero, Salt tells the story of CIA agent Evelyn Salt, who, when interrogating a prisoner about an impending assassination of the Russian president by a Russian sleeper agent, is told that SHE is the sleeper agent. Salt is forced to escape from the CIA in order to clear her name, but over the course of the film, it is revealed that she is in fact a Russian agent. Salt seemingly assassinates the Russian president, kills her handler and commits several other murders in her quest for vengeance (her husband was murdered by her handler). She discovers a plot to kill the American president to be carried out by a fellow sleeper agent; Salt manages to infiltrate the White House and discovers the other sleeper agent is her former CIA colleague. Russia mobilises their nuclear missiles due to the death of their president; America points theirs back in retaliation. The sleeper agent's plan is to nuke several Middle Eastern countries in order to unite Muslims against the United States, and as he moves to carry this out, Salt aborts the nukes, kills him, and escapes from custody. However, the sleeper agent had been in the White House for a little while and had begun to mess things up. Russia angry + America angry + Middle East angry + nuclear missiles + implication at the end of the film that the new American president is a sleeper agent as well = World War III. Not only a world war, but a very messy and nuclear holocaust-filled world war.
