Release Date: 8th January The Talent: Olivier Megaton (Director); Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Forest Whitaker, Famke Janssen The Story: Bryan Mills and his particular set of skills return for a third go-around, this time finding himself framed for a ruthless murder and forced to go on the run, all while battling to clear his name. Why You Should Be Excited: Depending on your feelings on the Taken franchise, you might either be excited for one more bone-crunching instalment of ageing bad-assery from Mr Liam Neeson; or you might love that this is being marketed with the tagline 'It ends here'. In other words, this should be the last entry that you may be forced to endure by that over-zealous action-fiend in your life. Either way, there is no doubt that the Taken films clearly catch the imaginations of a large portion of the film-going public. Even Neeson himself has gone on record a number of times saying how surprised he was that he made a Taken 2, let alone a Taken 3, in and around his 60's. From humble beginnings as a movie that it's star assumed would go straight to DVD, to the third entry in a viable franchise, Taken has every chance to go out on a relative high this time, with the addition of Forest Whitaker to the cast and a plot that thankfully eschews the well-worn 'Bryan's daughter or wife get kidnapped by angry Euro-villains' angle. Will it be a good time at the movies? Hopefully.
