Why You Should Be Excited: Director Matthew Vaughn is the man responsible for Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class, two of the very best comic book movies ever made. Rather than be tempted into directing either Kick-Ass 2 (which sucked) or X-Men Days Of Future Past (which didn't), Vaughn instead chose to adapt another creator owned comic book from Mark Millar. Given his aptitude for high octane thrills and genuinely inventive action scenes, it came as no surprise that the trailer for Kingsman promised all this and more. Vaughn has built a supporting cast with experience in the comic book movie world, with Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Trilogy), Mark Strong (Green Lantern) and Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel Cinematic Universe) being old hands at this type of stuff by now. In his lead roles, however, Vaughn has cast an unknown (Egerton) and Colin Firth, perhaps hoping to kick-start a Liam Neeson-style career renaissance as an older action star. Will it all work?
