It's Grease Lightening! (Go, Go, Go, Go, Etc.) - the all-American musical classic that in fact said the exact opposite of it's OK to be different. The film let viewers believe that being in a gang was cool. And if you were different - you couldn't be in the gang. Sandy's not allowed in the Pink Ladies because shes 'too pure to be pink' - an image she then feels the need to change. Sandy's knitted cardigans and Danny's leather jacket are two items that cannot mix in this film. Until the final scene - Sandy gets sewn into leather pants and literally lets her hair down, just as Danny dons a rather fetching cardigan himself. All the signs that say you must change to be with the one you love - why can't people just accept each other for who they are? Let's face it, if he doesn't want you for the real you, then he's definitely not worth it.
