It may have terrified the pants off many a child of a certain age, but there comes a point where we have to admit that IT simply isn't very good. Adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name, the TV miniseries makes a good go of it, given the book's length and structure, but rarely is it a success. All we really talk about when we talk about IT is the magnificent Pennywise, as portrayed by Tim Curry. So wonderful is Curry that whenever his killer clown is on the screen, any thought of the film's less good points simply dissipate. Those with a fear of clowns should be left shivering in their boots by Pennywise - and that's before the killing starts. A cackling, quotable monster, Pennywise is perhaps the most recognisable horror clown of all time. That's pretty impressive when you stop to consider how slow and shoddy IT actually is. That leaves it prime for the remake treatment, then, which is a work in progress as we speak. With Will Poulter tapped to star as Pennywise, it's our chance to finally get a film that lives up to Pennywise's fearsome reputation. However Poulter fares as the clown (insert 'mighty big shoes to fill' Sideshow Bob joke here) let's just hope they leave out the bit with the giant spider... What other horror villains were stuck in remarkably underwhelming films? Shout out any more down in the comments.
