8 Horror Movies Where Only One Person Dies

2. Paranormal Activity

The franchise itself may have become a diluted shell of itself, but it's only fair to remember just how impressive the original 2007 Paranormal Activity was.

Even before its release, the film had such a buzz around it, with several varying cuts of the picture making their way online ahead of the finished movie getting an official release. And not just was there a buzz around Paranormal Activity, the movie turned out to be a genuinely great addition to the horror genre.

Of course, not only did Paranormal Activity itself get five sequels, the film - as is ever the case with a successful horror - also spawned a whole myriad of copycat offerings looking to capitalise on this rebirth of the found footage subgenre.

In Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity - which was actually shot at Peli's own house over a short, intense seven-day shoot - the emphasis was on believability and tense discovery rather than balls-to-the-wall gore and a heavy body count.

By the time all is said and done with the final cut of Paranormal Activity, the solitary casualty is Micah, who is murdered by his possessed girlfriend, Katie.

Away from the main release of the movie, however, two alternative endings both end up with Katie joining her beau in the afterlife - one time with her being shot to death by cops, the other ending with her slicing her own throat.
