8 Horror Movies Where The Killer Was Meant To Be Someone Else

7. Friday The 13th: A New Beginning - Tommy Jarvis

The intended killer of Friday the 13th: A New Beginning was originally to be Tommy Jarvis, picking up with how things left off in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.

In The Final Chapter, the ending of the movie saw Corey Feldman's young Tommy disfigure himself to look like Jason Voorhees, before then brutally stabbing the hulking Voorhees over and over. By the time A New Beginning was released a year later, that film teased whether the quickly amassing murders of the picture were down to Jason or indeed down to the clearly troubled Tommy.

Ultimately, the deaths were attributed to neither Voorhees nor Jarvis. Instead, paramedic Roy Burns was the culprit, serving as a Jason copycat to avenge the opening act death of his own son.

Director Danny Steinmann was reportedly instructed to do two things during A New Beginning - having a kill every eight minutes, and turn Tommy Jarvis into the new Jason Voorhees.

Even the ending of A New Beginning was planned to be taken as Tommy embracing his dark side, yet this was instead played as a dream sequence when a hockey mask-adorned Jarvis attacked Pam. By the time of the following year's Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Voorhees was well and truly back in clinical action.
