8 Horror Movies With Different Endings In Different Countries

Paranormal Activity is an interesting example, because though the film received its global wide release in 2009, it actually premiered at California's Screamfest Horror Film Festival almost two years earlier in October 2007.

This version of the film featured a significantly different ending to the one released worldwide in 2009, for though it still concludes with a possessed Katie (Katie Featherston) killing boyfriend Micah (Micah Sloat), the police are called to the house when Katie's friend discovers the body.

The cops then find a possessed Katie upstairs, at which point the demon relinquishes its hold over her.

As a traumatised, knife-wielding Katie walks towards the cops, the demon slams a door behind them, startling one of the cops and causing them to accidentally shoot Katie dead.

When Paramount acquired the film for distribution, however, they had director Oren Peli shoot a more conventional new ending in which the possessed Katie is still alive and declared missing, leaving the door open for the glut of sequels which soon enough materialised.

Thankfully the original US ending - along with several other alternate endings - was eventually released on home video, allowing everyone to see what attendees of Screamfest did all the way back in 2007.
