8 Huge Movie Actors Who Started Out As Extras

6. Clint Eastwood

Eastwood's list of accolades and credits, acting and directing, is beyond impressive. However, like most other actors he didn't make a sudden impact. At the start of his career, he was described by the, Abotto & Costello director, Arthur Lubin as "quite amateurish" and criticised him for talking through his teeth.

That being said, Lubin was impressed by Eastwood's towering stature and appearance, suggested he take acting classes to fix his stiffness, then later gave Clint his first film contract.

Clint is renowned for his roles particularly in the spaghetti western genre, but his first appearances were in Universal-International's sci-fi and comedy films, Revenge Of The Creature and Francis In The Navy, both released in 1955. Not only was the former Clint's first film, it was the only production that year to be released in 3D.

Despite having lines of dialogue and winning minor roles in a multitude of 50s films, Eastwood struggled financially, had his contract with Universal terminated and was uncredited in the following titles: Lady Godiva Of Coventry, Tarantula, Never Say Goodbye, Star In The Dust, Away All Boats and Escapade In Japan.

I know what you are thinking: was that six roles uncredited or only five? (Sorry.)
