For those of us who view each additional Bond movie as an excuse to simply ogle beautiful woman from around the world for two hours, let this be a lesson to you: you might find yourself enjoying the sight of a warm-blooded male - or, at least, a man convincingly dressed up as a woman, as was the case in fifth Roger Moore outing For Your Eyes Only.

This has been an urban myth for a while now, usually utilised to frighten teenage boys, but is legitimately grounded in fact. The woman in question (or man, to be more precise) is one Caroline Cossey, who started life as Barry Cossey, and swapped genders in 1972 by means of some nifty surgical procedures.

For a long time, Caroline worked as a fashion model and was eventually cast in For Your Eyes Only as one of ten girls sitting around a pool that Roger Moore turns up to ogle for a bit. Given the subject matter here, some versions of this myth denote that a fully-fledged Bond girl had been a man, which isn't true. But maybe that's a nice, 21st century-aligned plot for the next Daniel Craig outing.
