Anyone who saw Inception in the cinema will remember the moment they almost spilled their popcorn because an enormous (and enormously loud) train came barrelling into the side of Leonard Di Caprio's car. But what might shock you even more is that the scene was entirely real. Of course, anybody who knows anything about Christopher Nolan knows the man is a stickler for practical effects, championing their realism and immense tangibility over the common weightlessness of CGI. Still, you'd think that sometimes he'd be forced to relent, especially when a scene involves a massive freight train hurtling down a main road and crashing into cars. But nope he didn't. In order to achieve the effect, a freight train was essentially welded onto the outside of semi truck, enabling someone to climb inside and drive it. This truck/train combo was then driven down an actual cordoned off street, smashing into actual cars and recreating actual vehicular chaos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbyIbHqsbiY
