Which means that a lot of movies get made that feel kind of interchangeable on the surface. Some of these trends have been going on for what feels like forever. We've followed them for decades as they've forced themselves into our subconscious. Then there are those reoccurring notions that are on the verge of becoming fully-fledged trends themselves. Fact is, Hollywood is something of a creative dead zone, a cesspool surviving on the chewed-up remains of that which went before it.
