8 Little Known Tics That Made Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man Perfect

1. The Secret Layers Of Psychology

This technically qualifies as a fan theory, but it's so ridiculously good that it's difficult not to buy into. In the original Iron Man, a soldier wanted to take a picture with Tony in his convoy, and threw up a peace sign as it was taken, moments before the humvee was blown up, killing the soldiers and leading to Tony's capture. Now note that in several subsequent movies, Tony would frequently pull out the peace sign during photo ops, which some fans have noted to be a tribute to the fallen soldiers, and signifying his change from warmonger to peace-keeper. Again, this could very well be the sort of thing that Downey would improvise, but either way, it's a simple, subtle way to demonstrate how much Tony has grown, and that he won't ever forget those guys who made the ultimate sacrifice almost a decade ago. He may not flash the peace sign much nowadays as the press corp isn't featured much in the MCU anymore, but don't be surprised if it's pulled out again in the future. Which of Robert Downey Jr's tics do you feel best defines the Tony Stark/Iron Man character? Shout it out in the comments!
