8 Little Known Ways Aaron Eckhart Made Nolan’s Two-Face Awesome
6. He Read Up On All The Character's Comics
Whenever a film based on a novel is made you tend to hear about how the actors pained to read and get to the root of the material, but you rarely hear the same for comic book movies. Possibly part of the mass ignorance of the medium, we'd say it mainly stems from superhero movies rarely using one particular source, instead serving as a portmanteau of the many different versions of a character; just what do you read to get the essence? Still, it can help an actor get to the central idea of a character if they do go back through their print outings, which is exactly what Aaron Eckhart did, stating in interviews he's read through everything available (and researched any gaps) on Harvey Dent. It certainly helps he was gifted a solid script from the Nolan brothers, but knowing where the character's come from will have helped no end. Compared to other Batman villains there's fewer outings for Harvey Dent - he was, for lack of a better word, cured in the forties and for decades any appearance from Two-Face was another, convoluted version - but it's still an impressive extent to go to.
