The supernatural-slasher franchise of Final Destination is, in a lot of ways, one of the most innovative and thrilling concepts to come out of horror this side of the millennium. Despite the so-called ‘final’ instalment being released back in 2011, there’s now new talks of a reboot by Warner Bros. This is no surprise considering how wildly entertaining all (but one) of the movies have been…Final Destination 4 is the true skippable dud.

Out of all of them, it’s usually the original or the third iconic roller-coaster instalment that gets the most amount of love and attention from fans, unfortunately meaning that the second sequel gets left behind away from all the fun. However, it is actually the second film that crafted the inclusion of such good-time entertainment in the first place. After the first film’s try at sobering eeriness, the second realised that the premise shouldn’t try to be any more serious-minded than it needed to be. Unadulterated cinematic amusement was clearly the correct way to go.

And that’s exactly what Final Destination 2 is - a pure popcorn-wielding horror romp that requires you to watch it with friends so you can wince, scream, and squirm in harmony. There's still some of the original's devilish terror still lurking too, especially after the opening’s impressively brutal highway pile up sequence that sets up a story packed full of relentless thrills and unbearable edge-of-your-seat tension.

What's more, the one-by-one formula also delivers brilliantly climatic red herring-filled death scenes - including being decapitated by an elevator and being trisected by a flying fence. Is there anything else you could need?
