8 Most Underrated James Bond Films

7. Spectre

No-one could deny that Spectre was a disappointment. It was following Skyfall, which is quite arguably the best Bond film ever, and given that it was bringing back Blofeld and Spectre after all these decades, it was arriving on a tidal wave of hype that the film, understandably, struggled to meet.

So, it might've been a let-down, but is it really as bad as many people say it is?

Of course, there are several pretty big issues. Most prominently, Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) was badly mishandled, the film features two of the most foreseeable plot twists of all time, Bond and Madeleine Swann's (Lea Seydoux) relationship isn't terribly well-written, the finale is a let-down and it's way too long, but Spectre really isn't a bad movie overall. It's just a disappointing one and had it not been so hyped up before release, it's unlikely this would've faced such a backlash.

Daniel Craig is brilliant and so are most of the other actors, the action sequences are largely successful, there are a handful of fantastic scenes scattered throughout the film (most notably that insane four-minute tracking shot at the beginning) and in general, it's a fun and interesting action film.

Give this one a revisit. With the hype removed, it does improve quite a bit the second time around.
