8 Movie Characters Who Suffered The Most From Time Travel
4. Sean Fentress Is The Only Person To Lose Out - Source Code
Source Code is basically Quantum Leap On A Train; Jake Gyllenhaal takes over the body of a teacher in the last eight minutes of his life in an attempt to find out who bombed a commuter train. OK, so the repetition and time constraint give it a fresh coat of paint, but director Duncan Jones was aware enough of the parallels he got Scott Bakula to provide an audio cameo.
Like Sam Beckett, Colter Stevens is thrust unwittingly into this weird past and must help the people around him to complete his goal. It all sounds pretty rough, but when you consider that he's actually a comatose war victim on intense life support it's probably the better option. In the end, Colter figures out that Source Code isn't just mentally projecting him back in time; each new run in the machine is actually creating a new parallel universe. So he goes back one last time after identifying the bomber to save everyone and start out a new, safe timeline where he can live happily with Christina, a woman he's gradually fallen for over his many repeats.
What a nice, happy ending. Except, what about Sean Fentress, the guy whose body Colter's taking over? Guess you can't save everyone.
