8 Movie Posters That Shamelessly Tried To Rip-off Batman

6. Halo 4

The two images above are undeniably similar - each composition is almost exactly the same with the darker fore-ground contrasting up to a point of light in the background high above the hero who is based in a halo of light as a result. And though the colour-schemes are contrasting, replacing the Halo 4 poster's blue with a similar firey colour to the Dark Knight Rises poster would make the similarities even more explicit. In terms of narrative you can see why the Halo team might have drawn from Batman, given the lone hero elements of the new Halo game, and the masked hero factor, so establishing the similarities in this way would almost certainly have served their cause. There's actually also a double claim on this one, since another Halo 4 poster bears resemblance to The Dark Knight Rises bat-logo teaser poster. The teaser below certainly owes something in terms of tone, as well as the industrial metal background of the DKR poster, and the composition - or the iconography of the property, more appropriately - works on the same level as having the Batman logo front and centre. Just as that logo is the key element for Nolan's trilogy (especially in terms of the third film's exploration of symbolism), Masterchief is the symbolic key for Halo 4.
