8 Movie Trailer Scenes Removed For The Right Reasons
3. The Restaurant Fight (Spider-Man: Far From Home)
Spider-Man: Far From Home had a lot to take care of. It had to address the Earth-shaking events of Avengers: Endgame, introduce Mysterio, bring closure to Tony and Peter's close relationship, and deliver a globe-trotting action-comedy extravaganza that would hold up as an entertaining movie in its own right.
With all those tasks to complete and a limited amount of runtime in which to complete them, it's no surprise that some stuff had to be cut, and one of the biggest moments from the trailers suffered at the hands of the filmmakers' scissors.
The moment in question is an action set piece involving Spidey taking down some crooks at a restaurant. This scene had a lot of complex stunts and effects, so it was surprising to see no trace of it in the final cut. However, the reasoning behind that decision was sound, as director Jon Watts told ComicBookMovie:
"[The restaurant scene] was one of those things where it was a really fun scene but it didn't really move the story forward and we basically just wanted to get the kids to Europe as quickly as possible."
Simple pacing issues were to blame here then, with the film possibly feeling too bloated during the opening 15-20 minutes. Considering that the important bits of the story revolve around the school trip, getting there quicker sounds like the right call.
