8 Movie Trailer Scenes Removed For The Right Reasons

The trailers for Rogue One contain many shots that didn't make it into the final cut, a result of the fact that the movie was heavily reshot and reworked quite late in its cycle.

However, not every missing trailer shot was dropped because of the reshoots - some cuts had other motives behind them.

One such moment is a scene that showed protagonist Jyn Erso limping towards the cockpit of an enemy TIE fighter, an eye-grabbing image that sparked a lot of pre-release conversation about how exactly the character would survive such a situation. Well, we never actually got an answer to that question, because while the shot did make it into the film, the TIE fighter had been scrubbed out. Sadface.

Director Gareth Edwards opened up about this decision in a chat with Entertainment Weekly, saying that he couldn't include it in the film because it didn't have a place in the story - but the marketing team wanted to use it regardless:

“It was something the marketing team fell in love with. We knew it would not be in the film. It’s one of those things where all the trailers are put together way before the film comes out. It wasn’t a specific part of the story.”

In the end, it was a good thing that this was removed, because yet another small fight scene in an already action-packed finale would've felt like overkill.
