8. Alien 3 Was Originally Set On Earth

The Trailer: The first teaser trailer for Alien 3 was released in 1991, showing an alien egg floating through space as a narration said, "In 1979, we discovered in space, no-one can hear you scream. In 1992, we will discover, on Earth, everyone can hear you scream." It's such a brilliantly simple teaser, confirming that after spending two movies out in space, a third film was going to answer fan demand and take the action to a more relatable locale: Earth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk_x9W1xKng The Final Movie: Sadly the movie's hellish production meant that the Earth premise was ultimately thrown out in favour of the only script that Fox executives could stomach, which was set on a penal colony on the planet Fury 161, a whole 19.5 light years from Earth. This, of course, is the danger in releasing teaser trailers before production has even begun, a practice which movie studios rarely engage in these days, exactly for fear of embarrassments like this.
