8 People You Won't Believe Won Razzie Awards

4. OJ Simpson

Everyone loves an easy target, and during the mid-90s few targets were easier to hit than Orenthal James Simpson. 3 months after the former American football player€™s new movie, Naked gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult opened to widespread indifference, he was arrested for the murder of his wife and her €œfriend€, leading to the decade€™s most high-profile trial.

Though Simpson doesn€™t do very much in the film €“ one of his scenes parodies The Untouchables, but that€™s the only sequence you€™ll remember €“ he still €œwon€ Worst Supporting Actor at the 15th annual Razzies, more for his notoriety than anything else. Less than 7 months after the Razzies delivered their verdict, a jury delivered theirs: not guilty.

There€™s a particularly bizarre footnote to this tale: Anna Nicole Smith, who €œwon€ Worst New Star for her performance in The Final Insult, died of an overdose of prescription drugs in 2007, the same year that Simpson was arrested for stealing sports memorabilia at gunpoint.
