8 Plot Threads To Continue In Captain Marvel 2

Back when the Captain Marvel movie was first announced, many were speculating that a spin off or sequel would include the current Ms Marvel of the comics, Kamala Khan. The odds of that happening seem unlikely now, but there’s still a chance Ms Marvel could appear in some form.

Khan’s arc in the comics revolves around how much she admires the original Captain Marvel, something which will be difficult to emulate given Danvers’ relatively short time on Earth while powered. Add to the fact that most of what she does either happens in secret bunkers or out in the desert, she’s unlikely to have any fans at all.

In Monica Rambeau though, she has a huge admirer. That little girl with the starry glow in her eyes when she saw Auntie Carol return is very clearly in the Kamala Khan mold. By helping Captain Marvel design her costume, she’s already part of Danvers’ legacy.

Monica could assume Khan’s position as Ms Marvel, just as some have speculated Shuri will become Iron Heart. Unfortunately, this means the key themes of Khan’s identity as a Muslim American would be lost. Hopefully if this is the case, getting Kamala Khan on screen will still be possible.
