8 REAL Failed Movie Pitches Just Revealed

7. Planet Of The Apes Vs The Nazis

The Planet of the Apes franchise has been through a lot over the years. First, there were five films of varying quality released during the sixties and seventies; there's been a TV show and an animated series, a failed relaunch, a doomed remake featuring Mark Wahlberg in the lead, before finally settling on a brilliant reboot series helmed by Matt Reeves.

Reeves' trilogy, released from 2011-2017, worked as a superb reimagining of the franchise and as a great precursor to the original film. However, while Reeves' films were admittedly fantastic, Daniel Kunka's pitch below might just beat them out solely on account of the fact the premise is genuinely bananas.

That... wasn't intentional.

Anyway, as you can see, Kunka's idea would've been set during World War II and would've seen American soldiers team up with the apes to fight the Nazis.

Kunka goes on to say that the film would've been set in Africa, with the Americans and Nazis vying for control of an important mineral. The twist would be that the mineral in question - sought out by the Allies for use in the construction of the first atomic bomb - was also what made the apes hyper-intelligent.

It's a bit out there, but could anyone possibly turn down the opportunity to see Caesar going to town on Hitler's thugs? Probably not.
